To Have and to Hold:
OK, so I’m not the most tech-savvy person. Introducing an iPad into my life seemed a little daunting, as well as a strain on my budget. But through some careful financial planning and encouragement (OK, begging) from the kids, my iPad days are here to stay. Here's how the iPad and the App Store save me every day:
7:00am: The Beatles serenade me with “Good Day Sunshine,” thanks to an Alarm Clock app. According to the Fab Four, I should get up and seize this epic day.
7:30: Pancakes for the hungry masses. For me? A low-cal smoothie recipe saved on my Lose It! app.
8:15: Check my To Do’s and use the iPad Calendar to figure out how to be in 10 places at the same time.
10:00: Pick up dirty socks while checking out my BFF’s new haircut on FaceTime (which we saved to Photo Booth to create different looks).
Noon: Use Video mode to capture the ball game. Import it to iMovie and fantasize about directing my own “Bad News Bears” remake.
1:30: 7th inning stretch: Open Newsstand and catch up on current events.
2:30: Use iPad Camera to get a victory photo of the team in all their glory. Text the photo to all the parents while waiting in their cars.
3:00: FaceTime with Grammy in the Walmart parking lot. The kids give an animated play-by- play of today’s win.
3:30: Check off my Shopping List and redeem all those coupons I downloaded yesterday.
5:15: Nestle my iPad into an App-Friendly Rechargeable Speaker System and crank up the music as I put away groceries.
5:30: Let the kids play Angry Birds while I get dinner ready. Premium earphones were a good investment to keep their sounds out and my sounds in.
6:00: Stream in the Food Network for cooking inspiration with my iPad, mounted like a flat screen using a cabinet mount accessory.
8:00: Debut my movie masterpiece for the whole gang. Our smart TV lets me wirelessly stream it using Airplay for a full-on theatre experience.
10:00: Turn my iPad into an iBook and tuck it into my Accessory Workshop Typillow so I can read with a snuggly pillow book in my lap.
11:00: Nod off to the sound of waves lapping on the shore, the white noise piping from my nightstand.
Sleep tight, dear iPad. Till tomorrow!– Libby Ferguson, Contributing Writer, Walmart.com.
